For years, the only way to get that snappy explosive "pop" on toe-off in your running shoe was to put a stiff carbon plate inside it. But carbon plates bring all kinds of downsides: extreme stiffness that stresses your calves, forced gait changes that don't work for everyone, and ultra-thin fragile designs that wear out in 150 miles.
The engineering team at IRUNSVAN completely rethought that problem. Instead of adding a stiff rigid plate to create propulsion, they engineered a brand new modular Energy Capsule system that delivers that same near-carbon level explosive toe-off — with zero carbon plate at all. This is how the FEI RAN 3.0 pulled off this impossible trick.

The Problem With Traditional One-Piece Foam Midsoles
Traditional running shoe midsoles are one single continuous block of foam. When you land on it, the entire block compresses all at once across the full surface area. That energy gets distributed everywhere, so only a small fraction of it gets returned to you as forward propulsion. That's why standard training shoes feel mushy, slow, and unresponsive. You have to push a lot harder to maintain the same pace.
If you add a carbon plate, the stiff plate acts like a lever, storing and releasing energy to create that snappy bounce — but that extreme stiffness creates all the unwanted side effects we already talked about.

The Independent PEBA Capsule Architecture
IRUNSVAN's solution was to remove the plate entirely, and embed separate, independent high-density PEBA energy capsules directly into the forefoot of the ETPU midsole base.
Each individual capsule is a completely self-contained unit with its own closed-cell PEBA foam structure. When you land on the forefoot at toe-off, only the single capsule directly under your contact point compresses. Instead of spreading that impact energy across a huge wide midsole, 100% of that compression energy is trapped inside that small compact capsule, releasing it all back in a single instant explosive spring forward.
That's why the FEI RAN 3.0 delivers 22% faster springback response than any traditional one-piece foam training shoe on the market. No lever, no stiff plate — just targeted, concentrated energy bounce, exactly where your foot needs it

The PWR-CLOUD ETPU Base: Stability And Durability
Underneath the independent capsules sits the full 35mm PWR-CLOUD high-density ETPU cushion base. It doesn't just hold the capsules in place — it delivers full plush shock absorption that protects your legs from asphalt impact, while adding the stable consistent platform that makes sure the capsules fire perfectly every time.
This dual layer design also massively improves durability. The capsules are completely protected and embedded deep inside the thick ETPU block, so they never come into direct contact with the road, never get scuffed, never wear down. That's why the FEI RAN 3.0 easily hits 500+ mile lifespan — far longer than full carbon plate training shoes.

No Plate = No Compromises
At the end of the day, removing the carbon plate and replacing it with the Energy Capsule system eliminates every single downside of carbon plate training shoes:
- Zero sharp plate stiffness, no unwanted calf soreness after easy runs
- Zero forced gait adaptation that you have to learn
- Zero ultra-thin fragile plate that cracks or breaks after 150 miles
- 500+ mile lifespan, 2-3x the total mileage of most carbon training shoes
- All the snappy near-carbon level bounce you want during your speed workouts

This is the kind of clever engineering that doesn't just iterate on existing ideas — it redefines what a daily training shoe can be. The FEI RAN 3.0 proves you don't need a carbon plate to get race-level performance.
